Richmond Remodeling: Paint Colors For Fall

The big players in the paint world have released their Colors of The Year for 2020. I recently sat down with Caroline Alkire, an Online Editor for HGTV to get her opinion on their color decisions. She gave us the scoop on all the paint trends to incorporate into your home this season, plus a few other fun trends on the horizon. Here are the colors to look out for going into 2020.

Add Navy To Your Richmond Kitchen Remodel

When it comes to interior design, who do you normally turn to for inspiration? Houzz? Pinterest? HGTV? Well, wherever you look, the answer right now is unanimous; navy, navy, navy.  Alkire says, “Navy is timeless. You can’t go wrong with navy paired with white.” Sherwin-Williams 2020 paint color of the year is “Naval.” PPG’s 2020 color of the year is “Chinese Porcelain.”

Pro tip: Add brass hardware to navy kitchen cabinets to achieve a classy look. This kitchen remodel in Richmond, VA looks elegant with light countertops, brass hardware and navy kitchen cabinets.

Both colors would look fantastic in a kitchen. Learn more here about how to use Naval.

Remodel Your Home with Blush Neutral Colors

Another color making waves is a neutral blush. This color can also be seen as Benjamin Moore’s 2020 Color of the Year, First Light. Alkire’s favorite neutral tones at the moment are Sherwin-Williams’ “Romance,”  and PPG’s “Romeo.”

She says, “Blushes can now be used as neutrals. It’s a great way to make a somewhat boring wall more lively.” Alkire also told me a bit about her recent interview with Leanne Ford. She says, “Leanne Ford told me she loves adding both navy and blush into a room.” She said pairing blush with navy or black puts a modern spin on the color. See more examples of how to use these lovely tones, here.

In addition to being a great wall color, these blush tones could also be great accent home decor pieces.

Fall Nature Colors In Your Home

Another color sweeping the design world by storm, is sage. Neutrals inspired by nature shades are definitely a safe bet this season. Alkire says she, “Loves these muted tones. Specifically Secluded Garden by Vaspar.” Check it out, here.

Valspar also recently released not one, but 12 colors of the year for 2020. And guess what, they’re all pretty neutral! They are nature inspired shades, so that’s perfect for the fall if you ask us! If you’re not feeling the neutral trend, you can always use furniture and other home décor to add that bright pop of color you’re craving.

We can envision these gorgeous shades in a powder room or master bathroom remodel.

If you want a classic forest green color, Nevergreen is perfect. This fall color is a very deep green and will add the warmth and comfort you are looking for.
